Quick Answer
- Fastest: AREX Express Train — 43 min to Seoul Station (₩9,500)
- Best with luggage: Airport Limousine Bus — drops near your hotel (₩17,000)
- Late night: Kakao Taxi — 24/7, transparent pricing
- Groups of 3–4: Split a taxi — often cheaper per person than the bus
You just landed at Incheon International Airport. Now comes the real question: how do you actually get to Seoul? There are four main options and each one makes sense in a different situation. Here’s the honest breakdown.

Terminal 1 vs Terminal 2 — Check This First
Incheon has two terminals and they are not connected by a short walk. Getting this wrong means a 15–20 minute free shuttle bus ride to correct it — annoying with luggage and a tight schedule.
- Terminal 2: Korean Air, Delta, Air France, KLM, Asiana Airlines
- Terminal 1: All other airlines
Check your ticket before you land. If someone is picking you up, make sure they know which terminal. Both terminals have identical transport options — AREX, limousine bus, and taxi all depart from both.

Terminal 1

Terminal 2
Option 1 — AREX Express Train
- Cost: ₩9,500 per person
- Time: 43 min from T1 / 51 min from T2
- Hours: 5:20 AM – 11:40 PM
- Departs from: B1 level — follow “Airport Railroad / AREX” signs
The AREX Express runs non-stop to Seoul Station. Fixed schedule, no traffic delays, reserved seating. This is the most reliable option when time matters.
There are two types of AREX — don’t confuse them:
- Express (직통): Non-stop, ₩9,500, 43 minutes
- All-Stop (일반): 13 stations, ₩4,150–₩4,750, about 60 minutes — stops at Hongdae (Hongik University Station)
Daddy’s Tip: Staying in Hongdae? Take the All-Stop AREX. Direct to Hongik University Station for less than half the Express price. One of the best transport deals at Incheon.
At Seoul Station, you connect to Metro Lines 1 and 4. One more subway transfer gets you to most central Seoul neighborhoods in under 20 minutes.
Option 2 — Airport Limousine Bus
- Cost: ₩17,000 adult / ₩12,000 child
- Time: 60–90 minutes depending on traffic
- Hours: Approximately 4:00 AM – 11:30 PM
The limousine bus drops you at stops near major hotels and neighborhoods — no subway transfer needed after you arrive. If you have large luggage or are traveling with family, this is the most practical option.
Key routes from Incheon:
- 6001: Myeongdong, Seoul Station area
- 6002: Hongdae, Gwanghwamun, Dongdaemun
- 6015: Sinchon, Hongdae
- 6020: Gangnam, Coex area
Buy tickets at the bus ticket counters in the arrival hall or at the automated machines near the bus stops on the ground floor. Show the driver your ticket when boarding.
Honest caveat: Rush hour (7–9 AM, 6–8 PM) can push the journey to 90 minutes or longer. If you arrive during these windows and speed matters, take the AREX instead.
Option 3 — Taxi
- Regular taxi: ₩65,000–₩85,000 to central Seoul + ₩7,900 highway toll
- Premium black taxi: ₩90,000–₩120,000+
- Available: 24 hours
Use the Kakao Taxi app — enter your destination before you clear customs, so you’re ready to request a ride immediately. Kakao Taxi shows a fixed price upfront, accepts card payment, and tracks your route. No language barrier, no meter surprises.
⚠️ Important: Never accept rides from people approaching you inside the terminal offering transport. Use official taxi stands outside the arrival hall only. The taxi stand locations are clearly marked.
For groups of 3 or 4 people, splitting a taxi often works out cheaper per person than the limousine bus and gets you directly to your accommodation.
Option 4 — KTX Direct (Terminal 2 Only)
If you’re flying into Incheon and your final destination is Busan, Daejeon, or Gwangju — not Seoul — you can take the KTX directly from Terminal 2 without going into Seoul at all. Most visitors don’t know this exists.
- Seoul to Busan: ₩59,800, approximately 2h 50min
- Departs from: Terminal 2 station (connected to the terminal building)
This only applies to Terminal 2. Terminal 1 passengers need to take the AREX to Seoul Station first, then transfer to KTX.

First Things to Do After Landing
Before you head to transport, sort these out in the arrival hall — they take 10–15 minutes and make the rest of your trip significantly easier.
- SIM card or pocket WiFi: Available at booths in the arrival hall. Korean SIM cards work immediately. Major providers: KT, SK Telecom, U+. A 10-day data SIM costs around ₩15,000–₩25,000.
- T-money card: Buy at the convenience store (CU or GS25) in the arrival hall. Load ₩10,000–₩20,000 to start. Used on subway and buses throughout your trip.
- Small cash exchange: Exchange ₩50,000–₩100,000 at the airport for immediate needs. Rates aren’t great here — exchange the rest at Myeongdong booths in the city.
Luggage Storage at Incheon
If you’re arriving before your accommodation check-in time, Incheon has luggage storage (물품보관소) at both terminals, open 24 hours. Rates start from ₩4,000 per item per day. You can store your bags, explore Seoul, and collect them later — useful for early morning arrivals.
AREX City Check-In — For Your Return Journey
When you’re heading back to the airport, the AREX offers city check-in at Seoul Station. You can check your luggage and get your boarding pass at Seoul Station before boarding the train — you arrive at Incheon with nothing to carry. Check which airlines participate on the AREX website before planning around this.
Arriving After 11 PM
The AREX Express stops around 11:40 PM. Limousine buses finish around 11:30 PM. After midnight, your options are:
- Kakao Taxi: Most reliable. Set up the app and enter your destination before you land.
- Regular taxi: Always available at the official stands outside arrival halls.
- All-Stop AREX: Last train around 12:15 AM — check the current schedule before relying on this.
Late-night taxi to central Seoul costs ₩65,000–₩85,000. Not the cheapest option but straightforward and available anytime.
